“I have had the good fortune to attend three Leadership Institute meetings since
2005. They each provided a great forum for the exchange of ideas for improving
the leadership of both our SIG and my ‘regular’ job. Beginning in 2006, we have
encouraged all of our Board Members to attend. It has been, and continues to be,
an excellent investment for our SIG. It also continues to be an excellent
investment of my personal time.”

“By sharing with PMI leaders across the globe, PMI's Leadership Institute
program has offered me an opportunity to learn more about my style of
leadership. I have garnered more effective techniques to serve my membership as
well as the leveraging of tools and strategies that help my board in continuing
our development as leaders.
I'm sure our members benefit as much or more than I by our chapter leaders
putting into effect the techniques learned through this sharing environment. On
a personal level, I have discovered a depth of understanding of my role and how
to better be a leader. This has been instrumental in my better defining my
personal as well professional goals.”

President, PMI Portland Chapter
“I have been attending PMI Leadership Institute Meetings since 1999, and always
make time to attend one or two Leadership Institute Meetings every year. The
many wonderful interactions with volunteer leaders from around the world,
networking opportunities, shared knowledge and fun experiences have provided
many new ideas that have fundamentally increased my passion and determination
professionally and as a component leader.
I have made many good friends and been honored to join colleagues from around
the world. There are two phases to my professional life – before and after
joining PMI. I have learned more through attending Leadership Institute Meetings
than I have ever learned in a conventional classroom.”
Margareth Carneiro, PMP
Chair, Government SIG
“PMI’s Leadership Institute Meetings provide the means to engage my local
component with the initiatives of the global project management community.
Without attending at least one annual Leadership Institute meeting, I feel that
I would be doing a disservice to my Chapter and could not keep my constituents
informed of strategic initiatives and best practices. The Leadership Institute
Meetings allow me to engage in very meaningful discussion with other regional
leaders, PMI’s Board and the GOC Staff to find solutions to problems as well as
discover new opportunities for programs and services that could benefit our
chapter. These meetings allow me to stay abreast of current PMI initiatives and
enjoy a great time of fun and fellowship with fellow component leaders. I would
highly recommend attending the Leadership Institute Meetings!”
